Early on in the design process, the owner expressed an interest in cleaning up the mess of wires left by the last AV company. In addition, the owner wanted to place all the equipment out of sight so that the beauty of the home wasn’t overshadowed by visible technology.

Being a retrofit situation, Di Takon Design subsequently designed a system that allows some components to reside in a central location thus avoiding the need to have all the electronic components spread throughout the house.

A Lutron RA2 lighting control system was installed as it offers the convenience to schedule lighting scenes automatically as well provide the client with the ability to turn off all lighting throughout the estate with one button press. An Elan g control system provides access to the various other audio and video sub systems in a easy and intuitive way.

A recently renovated backyard is now highlighted by a 3-zone, high performance, outdoor audio system featuring 11 outdoor speakers and a powerful outdoor subwoofer.

The next phase in this project will include a complete acoustical redesign of the home’s theatre as well as the installation of surveillance cameras and a gate intercom. Included in this upgrade will be the ability that when someone presses the call button at the gate a notification will be sent to the client’s mobile device. At that point, the homeowner can choose to view the nearby camera and grant a visitor access with a push of a button from anywhere in the world.
